A town where the locals charisma and hospitality will have you coming back time and time again….
Langholm, also known as the Muckle Toon, is located in the Scottish Borders on the A7, 20 minutes from the M6 at Carlisle, 20 miles south of Hawick and east of Lockerbie.
Langholm originally grew around the textile industry, but is now best known as the birthplace of Scottish writer, Hugh MacDiarmid and renowned civil engineer, architect and stonemason Thomas Telford.
The town is also the home of the Clan Armstrong trust. As a result of this, the town was visited by Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon who said “The most difficult place to be recognised is in one’s own home town, I consider this [Langholm], now, my home town.”
Langholm is famous for having what is considered one of the finest border ‘Common Ridings’ in the region every July. This year the Common Riding will be held on Friday 27th July 2018.
Ewes Water Log Cabins is the ideal accommodation for wedding parties at nearby Gretna Green. ‘The Wedding Capital of the World’ is just 20 minutes away….
